Peace is what I’m feeling right now. And it is a welcome visitor. The sun is streaming through the windows on this frosty morning. My son is softly snoring on the couch, covered by a quilt. He’s recovering from a cold and his body needs the additional rest.
The whole family woke up together to enjoy a breakfast of coffee, eggs, and hot, buttery cranberry bagels. My youngest daughter read aloud to us about Scrooby, England and the Pilgrims while we ate.
I was able to spend some time today reading the Book of Common Prayer and Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist. My morning chores are done and school work for those awake has begun. I think I might be seeing a return to our routine.
Thank you, Lord, for Your peace and for the sunshine that floods my home and my heart.
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
