A meme from this blog.   I took this photo of a rhododendron bloom when I was in the mountains of Virginia.  Gorgeous!

A few months back, a mourning dove visited my front porch.  This photo is not very good because it’s taken from my living room through my front window.  But, I love that she came back.  It made me so happy and I wanted to share that!

Beauty Observed in Primrose

I was again “victim” to the grocery store potted plants.  They put them right inside the door and they are the first thing I see.   I am drawn straight towards them.  Cyclamen, primrose, forced bulbs.  They seem to find their way right into my cart.  I don’t know how that happens.

This has been a particularly long, cold winter.  Of course, if I think back, I find myself saying that every year.  There are scientific facts to back it up this year though.  I am so glad that it is the first week of March.  Even though we are shoveling out from another snow storm, I can claim that Spring is right around the corner.  Glorious, beautiful Spring.  And I think that is why those potted plants jump into my cart in the grocery store.  To remind me that Spring will be here soon!

How Fun! Vol. 34

“How fun!” I find myself exclaiming this many times throughout the week. Here are just a few things that touched me or made me smile:

Beauty in my week:

  • Gimbal’s Scottie Dog licorice.
  • Family walks after dark.
  • Downtown trees strung with white twinkle lights to celebrate our town’s 200th birthday.
  • Flowers from a neighbor.
  • Older daughters who prepare wonderful meals for the family.

Blooming in my garden this week: 
hydrangeas, roses, gooseneck loosestrife, day lilies, sweet peas, purple hosta, bee balm, lamb’s ear, daisy, purple loosestrife,

Here’s a really fun instagram account to follow:  @mirrorsme   She draws elaborate doodles on her mirror, inserts herself into them, and then snaps a selfie.  I find it very imaginative and whimsical.  And thank you to all those who started or do follow me on instagram!  I appreciate you!

Instead of my weekly menu, I’m going to tell you about the Indian meal that Amy made us.  I know that Amy eats lots of Indian food while she’s in DC.  We don’t really have any Indian restaurants close to us.  About the time we were deciding if we should make the drive to a restaurant around some distance away, one of my friends suddenly came into all of these Indian ingredients that she wanted to give away.  (The Lord provides!!!)  Amy spent all day yesterday cooking and amazing scents filled the air in our home.  We have FEASTED!

Easy Indian Butter Chicken
Saag Paneer (with no paneer.  lol)
Chana Daal
Basamati Rice
Store bought Naan (Believe it or not, I found it at Walmart!!!)
Kulfi (I made this and used real whipping cream instead of Cool Whip.)

Amy used this recipe to make Tandoori Masala which was used in the Butter Chicken.
