How Fun! Vol. 31

how-fun-2Elizabeth is out of town this weekend. She left Eddie in charge of this week’s edition of “How Fun!”

Hello Beauty Observed readers! Eddie here filling in for Elizabeth while she is out of town for a few days. I’ll be highlighting some things that I found fun during the week, sharing some details from the menu the kids and I will be enjoying in Elizabeth’s absence, and just making a mess of things in general!

Most of you know we have a dachshund named Oliver (aka Pup Pup). Elizabeth dreads taking him to the vet because, she claims, I feed him too much and then she gets scolded by the vet for letting him get too big. This week was Pup Pup’s checkup and, sure enough, the vet said that he is fat and needs to lose – are you ready for this – a whopping ONE POUND!

Elizabeth was so embarrassed, but I told Oliver later that if my doctor told me that I needed to lose 1 lb. I would hug his neck!  Never mind that it’s all relative to our respective sizes. I still say 1 lb. overweight is nothing to be ashamed of regardless of your species. Well, OK. Maybe a field mouse that is a pound overweight has a problem…

Oliver will be enjoying table scraps from the kids and me while Elizabeth is in D.C. Oh, yes. The cat is away.

Here is a collage I made of Oliver doing his morning stoutness exercises.

And puppy dog tails,

And all things nice,

I think we can all appreciate the way in which God makes us all different. I am reminded of the definition of harmony I heard many years ago. Harmony is the combination of unlike things to form a pleasing whole. Could this be a good definition for marriage, too? I think so.

What we are eating while Elizabeth is gone.
This ain’t Paleo, folks:

*Pizza from local pizzeria.
*Leftover pizza.
*Wendy’s (the world’s best fast-food)
*Frozen pizza.
*Various cereals.

Here is the note that Elizabeth saved into this week’s blog post draft before she left:

“Well, I am going will be with my oldest daughter in Washington, D.C.  Ed will be doing the cooking and I’m not sure he likes being tied down to a menu.  lol  I’m leaving the grocery budget in his able hands! I’ll have my menu ready for next week!”

And my response:

“Bwahahaha!” 🙂

Hi Eddie! It nice to see Elizabeth can take a trip and know the blog will be in good hands. I love the collage of Oliver’s morning exercizes. Super cute! I also enjoy reading things from your perspective on the blog once in a while. I hope you find some fresh fruit and veggies to add to your meal plan for the week 🙂

      Dawn,

Thanks for stopping by, and CONGRATS to YOU on reaching the one year blogging milestone! Elizabeth and I both like seeing God’s blessings on what you are doing at RNH. I pray that your blog grows more successful with each passing year.

OK, now by “veggies” you mean the tomato sauce that’s on the pizza, right?

      🙂

      June,

Eddie here – thanks! I like helping out with the blog when I can. Elizabeth’s audience is so pleasant and, to use her word, “fun!” I will add in a bottle of Tums for this weekend’s staples. 🙂

Always lovely and always sure to make me smile. Hello Eddie! I’m waiting for Elizabeth to come over to help me pull weeds but I love DC so maybe I will join her there. 🙂 All the best to you while she is away. Your menu is similar to what mine has been with my hubs away. And oh… my Jack Russell keeps getting bigger and bigger with the hubs gone. 19lbs. geez.

      Beth,

My hands are still sore from helping her pull weeds last week! Gardening is not for the weak. D.C. is a cool town. It actually seems like our oldest might make that her permanent home. Something about big city life, all the ethnicities, all the great food! If only the politicians would leave – then I might move there! lol.

Keep feeding that Jack Russell. I say, life is short – and even shorter for a dog – keep them happy. 🙂

      Best,
      Eddie

      Joanne,

Eddie here, I am glad you enjoyed the post! I need to get the Monday (Positive Meme Monday) post ready tonight or tomorrow. I will also be making the Wednesday post. Not sure what I will write about for that one… Sheesh. This blogging can be hard work. 🙂 I am glad Elizabeth will be back for next Friday’s How Fun.

Thank you for being a part of the Beauty Observed family.

awe…what an adorable pup…as dashounds go, I would not say that yours is overweight in the least. Thanks for helping Elizabeth keep the site going in her absence.

      Mitzi,

Eddie here – I told Oliver what you said and he said “Woof, woof.” Which is, of course, THANK YOU! I agree with you, I have seen many doxies that are much heavier. I know they can have back problems if they get too overweight, so I do actually keep more of an eye on what scraps I give him than I let on, but I don’t think he’s too heavy. He has great energy when we walk him. More than I do, in fact!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting,
      Eddie

This was so much fun! You should take over the blog more often : )

A couple years ago I was gone for a week and my husband took over my blog – my blog readers LOVED it, but he decided it was too much work to be a regular contributor. Too bad because he’s way funnier than I am.

      Jill,

Eddie here. Haha! Yes, it can be a lot of work. I enjoy writing and graphic arts, so making occasional posts for Elizabeth is a treat for us both. I am only funny in small doses. It is often the case that my humor turns to “that guy is kind of weird” after an hour or two. That limit in blog-time is approximately 1 week of posts! lol.

      Blessings,
      Eddie
